Tom Hoar and Del Winn founded Slate Rocks LLC in Florida, USA. We have offices in Florida and Georgia, USA and in Bangkok, Thailand.
We develop and sell cross-platform machine translation software applications. Customers in over 30 countries around the globe by our products and receive support via our e-store website, https://www.slate.rocks/.
Our Slate™ brand comes from tranSLATE.
2015 – Slate Toolkit™ was released. It was the first the full-stack collection of phrase-based statistical machine translation utilities for 64-bit OSes like Windows and Linux.
2016 – Slate Desktop™ was released. It is the first user-friendly application machine translation with machine learning and artificial intelligence for MS Windows to work with Trados Studio, memoQ, CafeTran, OmegaT, other computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
2018 – Slate Connect™ was released. The stand-alone application connects Slate Desktop engines to computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools.
2019 – Ready-Made QMT™ Engines were released. They are the first off-the-shelf machine translation engines that don’t require the Internet or time to build.
Tom Hoar, founder & managing partner
Tom lives in Thailand about 7-8 months each year and spends the rest of his time between Florida and conferences somewhere in the world.

Del Winn, co-founder & attorney
Del lives in Georgia, USA. He is an attorney with international business expertise in finance, banking, real estate, information technology and intellectual property. Del is responsible for all legal and intellectual property relating Slate Rocks LLC.
